|APPROVED DATE||March 19, 2019|

|START DATE||September 19, 2019|
|END DATE||August 20, 2021|
The River Ravi enters into Pakistan territory near Kot Nainan in Tehsil Shakargarh of District Narowal. At the location of the entry of Ravi into Pakistan, the Hajipur Gujran flood protection bund exists having a length of 37750 ft. with 8 no spurs. This bund is a main flood defense contouring spill of floodwater into Kot Naina and adjoining villages. However, during exceptionally high floods of 1988 in River Ravi, the Hajipiur Gujran Bund along with its allied river training works were overtopped.
There were losses in 1996 floods also when two spurs were damaged and dumping of stone was carried out. Similarly, during floods of 2018, parallel flow occurred on flows in River Ravi as low as 67,000 Cs only. Hence breach or overtopping of bund can occur on higher flows as presently the bund is in bad shape due to deferred maintenances and does not conform to requirements of Federal Flood Commission, where the top of embankment should be 6 ft. above HFL.
